French Learning Software – is it Worth It?
The French Learning Software out in the market today is abundant in number. It is somewhat hard to fathom, but it is true. And aside from that, some software are usually costly. Upon buying it though, you would later learn that it’s just a total waste of money and time.
Which brings us to the question: Is buying a French Learning Software really worth it?
There are also other means to learn how to speak and understand French – there are some podcasts and websites whose aim is to make people understand French. And these are free of charge too. Unfortunately, not everyone is equipped with the skill to teach a foreign language. It may sound correct to you, but most of these are using grammatically incorrect sentences – something that you wouldn’t want to use when you’re in front of a real Frenchman or woman.
French videos would usually help too. But in most cases, the videos can only be used for supplementary, additional learning. It cannot be taken as a full course in itself as most of the videos do not employ a systematic approach – grammar basics are usually forgotten and video-watchers are usually left stumped on how they should go about in speaking French as they have no idea how sentences are constructed.
Like Math, learning a new language goes for a formula too. Effective French learning software has educators and real French people as teachers who not only teach syntax, exclusive French language rules, and sentence structure. The teachers on this software also intonate properly, and places emphasis on accents clearly. (They make sure that you get it, too.)
With the combined efforts of both linguists and educators, they usually have the know-how on how to do course outlines for French learning software. It is more like going to a regular language class. This approach – studying the right order of lessons – will effectively build up your vocabulary and sentence construction using the knowledge you already garnered based on past lessons.
Also, most of the French language software has progress charts (although it may be called by a different name by different language software.) This is usually via the tests after every chapter finished.
And the really cool part? You can learn the language at your own pace and time without driving to school. Well, actually, you can drive and learn at the same time – most of these software includes audio lessons on CDs or compatible to mp3s so you can take them almost anywhere, at any time of the day.
It may not seem worth it at the start of the lessons. Let’s be realistic: Learning a new language can be hard. It’s like you’ve become a baby again, trying to learn English. But that only happens at the start, especially if you have no idea about the language. French learning software is definitely worth buying as learning is as easy as counting. It’s an investment that will not only benefit you, but your family (and if you have, kids and grandkids) as well.
