Fun 4th of July Party Games to Spark Everyone\’s Interest!

So, you\’re getting ready to host that annual Fourth of July party. To insure success, you will need to get out the grill, determine the menu, and decorate in red, white and blue.

However, it is also imperative to have some killer 4th of July party games at the ready. The number of guests and their ages that you will be entertaining, will dictate the variety of games that you need to have in place. Hopefully, no matter which part of the country you are in, you will be able to host this party outdoors, as this will increase the game options from which to select.

WATER BALLOON TOSS

There is no better party game than playing with water balloons. You can either fill up a hundred or so, and let the players go crazy with them in an all-out water balloon war or orchestrate a more organized type of game.

Divide your guests into two teams and have each team face one another. Each person will now have a partner. Give each person in team #1 a water balloon. Once the referee says \”GO\” the partners have to throw the water balloon from Line #1 to their partner in Line #2.

If a water balloon falls to the ground and breaks, the person who failed to catch it shall be out. If the water balloon doesn\’t break and the catch is successful, then that person remains in the game. After each catch, team #1 shall take a step backwards and proceed to toss the balloon again. The game continues in this fashion until only one team is left and the players on that team shall be the winners.

3-LEGGED RACE

Another great 4th of July party game is to have a three-legged race. Divide your guests into pairs and give each pair a bandana, which will be used to tie them together at the ankle.

Each pair shall race against all the other pairs. The \”track\” needs to be at least 200 yards in distance. When the referee yells \”GO\” each pair shall start to walk/run and attempt to be the first pair to cross the finish line.

If someone falls down, they can get back up as soon as possible and proceed on. This race seems to be easy when you first look at it, but you will get lots of laughs when you see it in action.

TUG OF WAR

Divide your guests into two teams. The object of the game is for each team to try and tug a rope across the center dividing line.

Variation: This is a perfect game to do over a swimming pool. Losers go for a dip.

BOBBING FOR APPLES

Bobbing for apples is among the favorite 4th of July party games. All you need to do is fill a large washtub with cold water and applies. The children will each have 10 seconds to dunk their head into the water, without the use of their hands, in an attempt to grab an apple with their teeth. Whoever successfully pulls an apple out of the washtub shall be a winner.

FIREWORKS

You might consider allowing the children to put on a sparkler show for the adults. Have older teens and/or adults supervise accordingly. Then pull out the big guns for everyone to enjoy watching.
