Your garage is a multifunctional area that serves lots of purpose. It can be used as a storage room, a repair room, a library and many more. Because of its significance to the family, it is just right to keep the space tidy, organized and clean.

Even though it may be a daunting and stressful task to clean and to categorize things inside the garage, you need to do so to avoid clutter and for easy classification of items.

With the numerous things found in the area, for sure, you are confused on how you can clean up the mess and keep it organized. You do not have to worry because you can do the job successfully. Before you start your task, you must plan things carefully and consider all the things you need, such as storage bins, shelves and cabinets.

If you do not have unused plastic containers, buy shelves and storage drawers according to the needs and organization and level of organization you want.

You must clean up the space first and remove all the dirt, cobwebs, mud and dust using your broom, vacuum cleaner and map. Empty the area by removing all the things found inside. Remove all traces of dusts and other dirt inside the room. You can incorporate shelves on the walls for easy storage of items. You can also paint the wall with any shade of paint you want. If you used the garage for storage of mechanical equipment, choose darker shade of paint. If your garage has smaller space, select lighter shade of paint to make it look bigger. Let the paint dry before placing and arranging all the things inside the room.

Evaluate things which are no longer need for easy disposal. You can sell these items on garage sale, give them to friends or donate them to charitable institutions.

You can group and place supplies according to usage. Place small and minute things and supplies inside colorful plastic containers for easy storage and retrieval. Label the container for easy identification. Separate your clothes and your children’s unused clothes in bigger plastic containers, put labels and store them in specific area. You can hang paintings, frames and other art pieces using hooks. Place old books in plastic containers to preserve them. Place seldom used items at the back.

If you do not have garden shed at home, you can also store your gardening tools that needs storage. You can place wall mounted storage shelves to store you gardening equipment and tools. If you have bigger floor space, you can put potting bench or shed to store your potting mixtures.

After organizing your garage, never forget to clean the area regularly to avoid accumulation of dust, dirt and spider webs. Avoid placing new items just anywhere inside the garage to avoid clutter.
