How to Install a Digital Projector

Digital projectors are designed to take images from your computer, television, or other video producing device-such as media players-and project them onto a larger area such as a screen or even a wall. At one time digital projectors were so expensive that they were only prevalent in large organizations and businesses. However, in recent years a plethora of new items have been hitting the market making it more affordable for smaller companies and even homes to have one.

Digital projectors are installed in the same as many other home theatre equipment. They share the same connections in most cases and are used widely in small offices and classrooms environments as well. Owning one means that a person or company can have theatre quality, large images without having to buy a theatre quality television with the same viewing area.

1. Ensure that you inventory the contents of what the projectors was intended to come with. Compare the accessories that are in box with the list that is usually located in the users/owner\’s manual to ensure that everything is present. Read the manual so that you are familiar with the operation of the product prior to set up.

2. Choose the place where the image will be projected, be it a wall or screen. Some homes even hang a white sheet in the yard on a clothes line in calm, warmer climates and watch movies in the evenings while enjoying the outside air. The projectors user’s/owner\’s manual should provide you with a maximum and minimum distance where the projector will be the most effective.

3. There are three possible connections that you may have to set up. Connect the Video Graphic Arrays (VGA) cable, S-Video or Digital Video Interface (DVI) cable to their corresponding ports on the computer, television or media player. Then attach the opposite ends to ports labeled \”input\” on the projector.

4. Plug in the projector and make the sure that whatever device that is supplying the images is turned on as well. The images should start projecting on the desired surface. If the image does not appear sharp and clear the projector can be focused.

While some owners opt to \”go simple\” with their projection others may want to find a high quality screen to project on for the best quality. Many considerations will play a role in choosing the right projector screen for home or business. Projector specifications and room size will be two of them as well as ambience. Screens are also made from different fabrics that will result in different images and be better under certain conditions.
