It\’s London Calling, Talk to the UK and Europe For Less
Europe as a continent is one of the most active places on the planet. Therefore being able to make cost effective calls to European destinations from Canada is of paramount importance. And this is possible thanks to VoIP technology (Voice over internet protocol).
The word VoIP may seem quite confusing on first glance. However it isn’t. The system allows for customers of the VoIP package to make calls on both an international and domestic (because calls aren’t always going to be made to European destinations such as London) locations.
What makes it unique is that it cuts out the need for a land line. VoIP utilises the internet, allowing for a call to be made using either a computer, a specialist VoIP phone (designed specifically with that purpose in mind) or a specialised adapter.
The specialised adapter will, once attached, convert your phone, thus allowing it to work with VoIP. The system itself takes the voice signal from the phone and converts it into data format. The data format is sent across the internet and upon reaching the desired destination of the call, converted into an audible signal.
As it is free to send data of the internet, the VoIP call can be made in the majority of cases for free – even to international destinations, such as London or Paris.
The majority of VoIP service providers will offer a specialised VoIP phone, inclusive in the package. A VoIP phone will allow many of the key features that a normal handset would offer, but without the extra cost that might be experienced on a standard phone.
Repeat dial, return call, caller waiting and access to caller ID are just a few of the things that a VoIP phone user will have access to as part of their contract.
In an age of ever-advancing complicated technology, people may be fearful of turning their back on something they are so accustomed to. However with the VoIP, everything is done to accommodate people. The striking similarity that the VoIP phone possesses when compared to its land lined counterpart means that making the change really doesn’t have to be that difficult.
The only real difference aesthetically is that instead of plugging into a phone socket, the VoIP phone’s cradle plugs into the back of a broadband router – which isn’t all that different or complex.
The software that the VoIP phone needs to operate is usually pre-installed; which means less time fiddling around trying to setup the system up and more time making cost effective international calls. Another advantage that VoIP serves up is that calls to other subscribers of the service in the majority of cases come at no extra charge. Consequently all this makes calling international destinations all the more easier.
The assignment of a unique phone number allows for those who don’t operate a VoIP setup to make calls to those who do.
The evidence shows that VoIP service providers are willing to offer a service which accommodates new users, is flexible towards the needs of those users and ultimately and probably most importantly, employ simplicity to help achieve its aim.
