Modern Furniture For a Contemporary Patio
Having a patio in your property can mean that you have more opportunities in terms of designing your house and making it look more of what you want it to be. For a modern patio, there are a few furniture and designs that will surely fit the category. Here are a few of them:
Lounge chair. Any other home might have a lounge chair but, if you are looking to follow what the current trend is, you can go with wicker lounge chairs. These chairs are perfect for the summertime when the humidity is high. Leather chairs are not very good options also because of the heat.
Ottoman. This piece of furniture can accompany the lounge chair. There are even those that are sold together. Imagine lying in the chair and resting your legs on top of the ottoman, this means complete relaxation.
If you have a wicker lounge chair, it is but proper that you also have a wicker ottoman. However, there may be some who want to rest their feet on top of something soft. And since heat won’t be a very big issue with ottomans used as foot rests, using foamed or leather ottomans are still pleasant. You just need to take care of them when there are extremes in the weather.
Coffee Table. For the patio, a small table will do the job. And a table made from any material will do. But to ensure that they are still of good condition after some time and even after prolonged exposure to the sun or to the rain, choose sturdy materials. You can have stainless steel as this can withstand such elements. Glass tops may also be used. This will be easy to clean after the rain or when it gathers too much dust.
One material that you can avoid is wood. Although, there are hard wood products that will work well even with changes in the weather.
Benches. Comfortable benches for an outdoor setting can also be made with wicker. Wooden benches may still be used but these are too typical to be anything exciting to include in your patio. Steel may be used but they can get too hot under the sun and too cold when the surrounding temperature is low.
Benches may also be used as flat loungers. Actually, there may be benches which are adjustable or transformable to form angled loungers.
Convertible Chairs. For a patio that does not have so much space, one can use convertible furniture to have another one to use while still maintaining the design of the area.
You may be able to find chairs that can be transformed into loungers, ottomans, or even sofas. Keep in mind, though, that these types of items may be more expensive than the regular, single purpose ones.
Additional Items. If you have decided to have plants in your patio, planters will be necessary. It is ideal that you coordinate the planters with the furniture that you have.
Sconces are classic and they will fit the modern look that you are trying to achieve. However, stay away from older period inspired designs for you to be able to maintain the contemporary feel.
