OCD and How Subliminal Messages Can Be Helpful
Do you ever find yourself doing a very simple thing a lot of times, such as washing your hands or tying your shoes constantly? Do you find yourself becoming obsessed with something you are forced to do it even if you do not want to? There is a huge chance that you are suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder.
There are thousands of people who are suffering from OCD or obsessive-compulsive disorder. It is a type of anxiety illness where a person develops repeated thoughts, ideas, or feelings that force them to do something. Otherwise, they will feel anxious or depressed. Case in point: for some reason, you are obsessed about bacteria in your hand, so you always wash them. If not, you think you are going to get sick and die.
There is no known cause for OCD. Others attribute it to an infection; others call it a mental disorder. Either way, you it should never stop you from living your life to the fullest.
Managing It with Subliminal Messages
Often, when you are diagnosed with OCD you will be prescribed with drugs such as SSRI or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. It is meant to relieve you of your anxiety. However, this is only a temporary relief, and worse it may lead to drug dependency and eventually overdose.
You therefore have to combine medications with natural therapies. One of these is through subliminal messages.
Subliminal messages, in this case, are affirmations or positive statements. They work by dealing with your subconscious mind. The subconscious is the part of your mind you have no full control over. It is not influenced by your own emotions, but it is influential since it can help change the way your conscious mind process things.
When you fill your subconscious minds with positive thoughts, these will be carried over to your conscious, and without you realizing it you believe them and act them out. Take the following subliminal messages as examples:
There is nothing to fear about.
I can conquer my OCD.
I can greatly control my anxiety.
Try to repeat these over and over each single day. What will happen? Even if you do not mean it, your subconscious mind reminds you of these affirmations. Soon they will become a part of you.
Subliminal messages can also help relieve you of stress, which is a common trigger for anxiety. When you are tired and feel that your obsession or compulsion is kicking in, you can say the following:
I imagine myself throwing away my stress.
At the end of the tunnel is a very bright light.
I am relaxed. My entire body is relaxed.
While saying this you can breathe in and out, so you can calm those tensed nerves and lower your heart beat (typical signs of too much stress).
You can also combine subliminal messages and visualization. You picture yourself confronting the main source of your anxiety. While you are doing this, you remind yourself, “I am a very strong person, and I can beat my enemy” or “This source does not have power over me.”
