Promptness Does Magic!

Everything needs maintenance. Be it a car, a house, a garage, a bank account, an office or city. Maintenance is the key to keep just about anything running smoothly and not to mention, for it to live longer. “Anything” includes a pool. If you are a pool owner yourself, then I should tell you, pool maintenance is the key to keep it running smoothly for a very long time.

Pool maintenance is categorized into 3 parts, daily routine cleaning, weekly routine cleaning and monthly routine cleaning. These three parts are crucial if you want your pool to be in tip top shape and condition. All 3 parts are essential but the most important is the daily routine cleaning.

Daily routine cleaning is a vital exercise that you must practice to get things in a brighter perspective. Cleaning your pool everyday will show you amazing results. Daily routine cleaning is being prompt and being prompt is the way to go if you want to avoid future problems.

As pool maintenance have 3 equal parts, daily routine cleaning also has 3 equal parts. These parts are the following:

1. SKIM, BRUSH, SWEEP AND BASIC EQUIPMENT CARE

You will need:

– A skimmer net
– A big and sturdy fish net that has a long handle
– A pool brush with a long handle
– A pool vacuum

a) Brush the walls, surfaces and flooring of your pool. This will breakdown grime and algae infested areas in your swimming pool.

b) Fish out any floating leaves, seeds and other debris that are floating on your pool water

c) Use a fish net to take out the heavy, remaining debris and what not that are suspended on your pool’s flooring. These may be rocks, acorns and other seeds from either fruits or flowers.

d) Vacuum out any remaining filth.

e) Clean out your equipment before putting them away.

2. WATER TESTING AND CHEMICAL BALANCING

You will need:

– High quality water test strips
– A digital water test strip reader (optional)
– Chlorine or Bromine tablets or powder packets (if you have a biguanide treated pool, have in hand biguanide compatible products and chemicals)
– Chlorine floaters
– Algaecide
– pH increaser or decreaser
– Alkalinity increaser
– Water Hardener
– Calcium Booster
– Scale, metal and stain control
– Water Clarifier

a) Test the water by dipping in one water test strip into the pool. Be sure that the whole water test strip is submerged into the water. Doing so will give an accurate reading. If you have a digital water test strip reader, use that to do the evaluation for you.

b) Balance the chemicals as per your water test strip’s result.

c) Put in water clarifier to make your water sparkling and lucid.

3. OVERNIGHT POOL CARE

You will need:

– A pool cleaner
– Your filter

a) Run your filter for approximately 8 to 12 hours a day. It’s best to run the filter when the pool is vacant. The best time to this is at night.

b) Leave out your pool cleaner running when you sleep. Doing so will clear out any debris that might fall into your pool when you are not present.

Daily routine cleaning is a definite must to keep one’s pool in perfect shape. Disinfecting your pool on a daily basis will make your weekly and monthly routine cleaning a blast. Again, being prompt is the way to go if you want to avoid future problems. Surely, promptness does magic!
