These metal parts are used in so many different things. They are used in mattresses and machines everywhere. Although it seems like such a simple topic, there is actually a lot you can learn about different types of springs. Compression springs for example, keeps two items from touching and an extension spring keeps items together. By the names of these two things, it would seem like it would be the other way around, but it is not. If you have ever seen the inside of a mattress or been on a trampoline, you know exactly what these things look like; they are larger, thick coils or metal or wire and they have hooks on the end. They can be used in many different ways.

First of all, it can be used in many fun different ways. If you have kids, you might have a trampoline or own a pogo stick. The items would not be the same or even possible without the use of these springs. If you have ever taken a course in physics or if you are an engineer or some sort, it is easy for you to look at everything and easily see the mechanics that go into making these objects. It is actually quite interesting because you can use simple resources and make something fun or useful out of it. For example, this coiled metal can make things possible such as rides at an amusement park or the bed that you sleep on.

The purpose of springs in a mattress is to provide some sort of support between the normal mattress and the bed frame. This mattress would not be very comfortable to sleep on, but it creates a great support system under your comfortable mattress. Some people prefer to have other mattresses because they can wear out and begin to make noises, but they truly are a great idea for support.

Discussing coiled metal is not something that you do on a daily basis and it might not be interesting to you, but the point is that it is amazing how something so simple can do so many things. There are lists of items and devices that have springs in them and if you look at this list and if these coiled metal parts were never invented, you would not have access to such fun and helpful devices. If these things do interest you in any way, you might be a great engineer or someone who designs machines and other devices. Most people do not think of the little details, but if you have attention to detail then it is a great skill.
