TaylorMade R11 Driver – The Facts

The latest model driver from TaylorMade is the Taylormade R11 driver which became available in February 2011. The R11 driver has new technology and innovation and will no doubt be every bit as popular as their drivers have been in the past if not more so.

This new technology enables the driver to be tuned in a matter of minutes to an individual\’s swing. All adjustments are made with one torque wrench.

The black face and white crown make it a really distinctive looking driver. The white color makes the 440cc club head seem slightly larger which will tend to give the golfer more confidence. Aiming is easier with the good contrast to the grass, particularly in low light conditions. The sun won\’t be reflected on a sunny day because of the matt white. The black club face makes it one of the easiest drivers to align at address.

The new aerodynamic shape promotes faster club head speed which will give you that additional distance you are looking for.

Flight Control Technology (FCT)
The Flight Control Technology allows you to increase or decrease the launch angle. One issue with FCT is that changing the loft automatically changes the face angle (higher loft closes the face angle, lower loft opens the face angle) but what if you want to change the loft without affecting the face angle? Or change the face angle without affecting loft? That’s what the new adjustable sole plate is there for.
Adjustable Sole Plate

You can adjust the face angle by altering the adjustable sole plate up or down which is really simple with the torque wrench. This enables you to select an open, closed or neutral face angle.

Movable Weight Technology

This allows you to adjust the centre of gravity which means you can adjust the face angle to promote a fade or draw.

The combination of the three adjustability technologies gives the TaylorMade R11 owner up to 48 combinations of loft, face angle and draw/fade bias to play with. Depending on the golfer\’s chosen settings, TaylorMade say that these options can produce up to 100 yards difference in side-to-side trajectory.

While all this adjustability is complex it is not complicated and allows the driver to be tairlored to fit every golfers needs.

The TayorMade 2011 Driver is available in both right and left handed, of course, and you have the option of either 9 degree or 10.5 degree loft. There is a shaft to suit all needs, the options being regular/senior/stiff/x-stiff. The shaft material is Fujikura Blur 60 graphite.

There is also a more expensive TP version of the TaylorMade R11 which is suitable for high performance, competitive based players. This has 21 custom shafts to select from.

The majority of golfers using the TaylorMade R11 driver are very happy with their purchase and have found that it has improved their game to a great extent. The muted sound the club makes on impact disappoints a few but most say the sound on contact is awesome.
