The 2011 Lincoln MKT Blends Hi-Tech and Luxury
Most SUV’s aren’t too great on efficiency considering their weight and size but the MKX proves wrong by offering the best mileage in its class. Throw in intuitive touch screen functions and state of the art radar technology and the MKX is easily one of the most advanced vehicles when it comes to cool tech advances. It’s built on the same platform as the Ford Edge, except the MKX comes with more amenities and luxury features.
Storage space stands at 32.3 feet and if you fold down the second row of seats its maximized to a substantial 68.6 cubic feet. Genuine wood trim accents can also be added for a luxurious and upscale feel. A touch screen system is in place which enables the driver to manipulate vital functions such as the temperature, navigation system and music player all by touch.
Standard features include temperature controlled seats which are easily adjusted to your comfort level. The steering wheel can be heated or cooled; perfect for keeping hands warm during the frosty summer months. Satellite radio and reverse parking assist are also available. Ford’s Mykey system is also in place; this enables parents to maintain the speed and audio volume when their teens are behind the wheel.
When it comes to the interior the MKX is a real winner; it perfectly blends luxury with functionality. The 2011 MKX’s interior is much nicer than the models of yesteryear; Lincoln has really stepped it up a notch. The ambient lighting is also a nice touch; drivers get to select from seven different colors including teal, amber, white and blue. The MKX is a great looking vehicle and gets lots of admiring glances on the street thanks to its remarkable and handsome grille.
When it comes to dressing up the MKX on the exterior, a number of wheel choices available ranging from 18″ to 20″. The HID headlights are adaptive and actually move in the same direction that the steering wheel does allowing for better visibility and lighting. The MKX is powered by a six cylinder 3.7 Liter engine with 305 HP. Gas mileage stands at 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the freeway.
The MKX is a vehicle that is geared more towards luxury and a comfortable ride instead of sportiness. The four wheel independent suspension offers superb handling and absorbs shocks and bumps for a smooth drive. However, it lacks the sportiness and high performance that some drivers crave. A 6 speed automatic transmission is in place which also can be used in manual mode.
As you would expect from Lincoln, a ton of safety features have been included. The vehicle has an advanced radar system which can detect an impending collision and warn you if it senses one. Radars are in place which can sense vehicles in your blind spot. Pricing starts at around $39k for the front wheel drive version and in the late $41k range for all wheel drive; a fair price for one of the most competitive vehicles in the luxury crossover market.
