The Inconvenient Sweating Problem: How to Stay Fresh at All Times

The truth is you don’t want to stop sweating. It is one of the body’s best mechanisms to cool off and get rid of toxin build-up or excessive salt and water. What you really want to do is to control it.

Profuse Sweating: What Causes It?

Do you end up changing your clothes a lot of times during the day? Are you ashamed of raising your hands because of armpit sweat? Worse, do you smell foul because of it?

There are many reasons why you sweat. As mentioned, sweating is a natural process of cooling off the body. So if the temperature is hotter than normal, such as during the summer, you produce more sweat.

It also has something to do with stress. When you’re under stress, hormones can get out of whack. One of the possible effects is excessive sweating.

Too much sweat may also be due to genetics or your body composition. If you have more sweat glands, then you definitely sweat a lot more than the others.

You sweat more if you expose yourself to heat or burn calories in the body.

It may also be a sign of certain medical problems. For example, if you’re suffering from hyperhidrosis, you’ll end up sweating even if you’re not doing anything or the temperature is cold.

How to Control Too Much Sweating

Reduce exposure to heat. Choose the best times to go out of the house. If you do, bring an umbrella to protect yourself from the heat. When the weather is hot, avoid wearing thicker or brighter colored clothes. Opt for cotton dresses and shirts, which allow proper air circulation. You can also pick mattresses with better airflow so you don’t end up soaking wet when you wake up.

Don’t eat too much spicy food, as they may trigger profuse sweating and cause body odor.

Take a bath regularly. Taking a bath gets rid of the odor caused by excessive sweating. It is also one of the best ways to cool off your body. When the weather is hot, it’s recommended you bathe in cold water. If you have the tendency to smell because of sweating, you can come up with a solution composed of baking soda and lemon juice. It helps get rid of bacteria that causes body odor.

Apply anti-perspirants. These body products slow down the manufacture of sweat by preventing the sweat glands from producing it. Usually they contain aluminum salts. Some of them also have other features, such as prevention of body odor.

Nevertheless, choose your anti-perspirants well. As much as possible, pick those with more natural ingredients as harsh chemicals may trigger allergic reactions.

Avoid stress or anxiety. Stress and anxiety can cause your body to produce a lot of sweat. Learn the different techniques on how to relax even under a lot of pressure. These include proper breathing and use of subliminal messages.

Fill your subconscious mind with positive thoughts or affirmations such as “I am stronger than stress” and “Stress is a source of my inspiration and motivation.”
