There are 3 different ways to discover the meaning of names. The first is to look at the origin of a name. For instance you can find that the surname Sears comes from sair, a carpenter or sawyer.

The second way is to look up the meaning in a name book. This will give you definitions such as ‘Alex means Defending Men’ and ‘Talia means Dew of God’. Both of these methods will give you a very simple and short definition of the meaning of a name.

The third and in my view the most interesting and revealing by far is to work out the meaning of the name using Numerology. This will give you an extremely interesting insight into the meaning of names, and I will look at David Beckham’s name shortly as an example.

Your name meaning when based on Numerology is like a blueprint for your life. You can learn all about yourself or another person. This is invaluable because we can then play to our strengths, get the best out of our life and have confidence in the decisions we make because they are based on knowing ourselves fully.

To work out the meaning of your own name you simply write down your full birth name. Let’s use the name David Robert Joseph Beckham which is Beckham’s full birth name to demonstrate.

You then need to asign the relevant numbers to each letter using the numerology alphabet. A through to I = 1 to 9. In otherwords, A=1 B=2 C=3 and so on. J through to R is another set of 1 to 9. Finally S through to Z is a set of 1 to 8.

So, for the name DAVID we have the numbers 4 1 4 9 4. We then add these together which gives us 22. We add the 2+2 = 4. because in Numerology you need to reduce down to a single number when working out the Destiny number (which we are doing here). In other numerology calculations you don’t reduce the 11 and 22, but we won’t be going into those here.

Now, we do the same for each name and then add up each final number from each name.
ROBERT totals 33 which we then add together (3+3) to reduce down to make 6 JOSEPH totals 28 which adds to 10 which we reduce to 1.
BECKHAM totals 25 which adds to 7.

So, adding each of these 4 numbers together we get 4 + 6 + 1 + 7 = 18 1 + 8 = 9
So, David Beckam’s Destiny Number is 9. This indicates that David will have many opportunities and life will bestow many gifts on him. It is a number that represents all that is beautiful, charitable and fine. Perfectionism is a word associated with 9. He shouldn’t allow popularity to go to his head.

These are just a couple of the many traits associated with the Number 9.
