The Not So Shinny Side of Pool Sanitizers
Truly, nobody really talks about the negative side of each pool sanitizer. Why so? Well, the reason is still unannounced. Maybe nobody really have the guts to blurt out the not so hinny side of these sanitizers. If you are interested in finding out what these flaws are, then READ ON. You might be surprised on the facts.
THE CHLORINE SYSTEM
The chlorine system in pools has been around for decades now. Try to ask your mom, dad or even your grandpa and grandma and they will tell you that its true. But honestly, when you think about the specifics, chlorinated pools are not easy to maintain but they become easy to maintain because they have been around for a long period of time. In other words, people, particularly pool owners, have been familiarized with this type of pool sanitation that at times they do not mind the maintenance. But it’s not only the maintenance that pool owners has to worry about. Other things are the instability of the chemicals in the water and the bad side effects on swimmers.
THE BROMINE SYSTEM
Bromine is actually akin to table salt. This fact serves as a big NO for those people who think and have been informed that bromine pool systems do not contain salt in them. A bromine treated pool does contain salt but not as the extremity of the amounts in a chlorinated pool. This is because it has a self engendering salt generators. This eliminates the need to constantly add salt on the water. This made the bromine system climb up the charts as people’s choice compared to chlorine.
But bromine is not all flowers and sunshine. Some pool owners complain because of the foul chemical smell of the sanitizer. Some say that bromine smells even worse than chlorine. This appears to be the only complaint when it comes to this pool sanitizer.
THE BIGUANIDE SYSTEM
The biguanide system has got to be the most exclusive pool system out there. It has its own set of chemicals and products to be used for the sanitation of the water. Each component doles out individual and crucial roles to ensure that the water is in perfect shape, it being safe to use for swimmers.
Bad reviews for this type of pool system are that it is not compatible with a majority of pool products, chemicals and tests; it causes diarrhea and dyspepsia for some (results vary for swimmers)and that it gums up filters (of course there are items that can be used for de-gumming filters).
THE OZONE POOL SYSTEM
Nowadays, certain gases, particularly oxygen and hydrogen peroxide are used to clean out the water in pools. This type of pool sanitation, as you may believe it or not, does not require any form of chemicals in order to back up its maintenance. Yup, you read it right. It does not require chemicals. What happens is that the pool’s ozonator creates its own oxygen and hydrogen peroxide and then deposits it to the water to cleanse it. Pretty cool huh?
Appropriate caution just has to be taken in because these gases can emit harmful effects to one’s health. One may develop asthma, pneumonia and generally weak lungs (but then again, results vary for swimmers ).
