You know, you don’t have to put up with it any longer.

You might have already read about the wonderful advantages of the salt water pool system and you are really impressed with it. You may also perhaps wish that you have just chosen this type of pool instead. Don’t worry, I’ll tell you a little secret; did you know that you can shift, yes shift from a chlorinated pool scheme to a salt water one? Yes, you read it right. A shift is in fact doable and possible and it isn’t really that hard.

The project requirements:

A chlorine generator
Pool salts
A roll of household wire that can handle 220 V
Safety, rubber gloves
Proper work clothing

Here’s how to get started:

Empty all water from your pool. This will probably take you about 2 to 3 days.

Clean your pool thoroughly. This comprises of two primary tasks. The first step would be to pick up and then throw away all the debris from the pool floor. This can be done with a help of a fish net or a shovel. Be sure to have with you a big plastic bag or trash can to hold all the rubbish that you have sought. The second task would be to acid wash your pool. This can be done by using quality muriatic acid. Muriatic acid a strong acid that will kill all types of contaminants in your pool.

Put in water into your pool.

Pour in 50 pounds of salt per 1,200 gallons of water in your pool.

Install a chlorine generator to your pool system. This will be the back bone for your salt water pool. Chlorine generators really live up to their name. This equipment produces its own chlorine, thus eliminating the need to purchase and then put in chlorine directly to the water. This is also the reason why a salt water pool is safer than a chlorinated one.

Run the electric power to your chlorine generator and wire it to your pool’s pump system. This is done to sync the two. When one turns off, the other one will too.

Power your chlorine generator to help the salt incorporate with the water. Run it for at least, 24 hours. This is the part where the real conversion starts.

Test your water with water test strips and balance off all the chemicals needed.

Practice proper pool maintenance guidelines to keep your salt water pool fit and secure to use.

Make the shift today. You will find that doing so will not be that hard to do as it is tremendously rewarding on your part.
