Tips on Decor for the Bachelor With a New Girlfriend

If you are a bachelor that has just met someone really special and she is dropping hints about never being invited to your apartment, do not panic. No matter how much a slob, sports nut, or how bland your decorating skills, we can help. All you really need is to make a few quick changes to keep from scaring away the girl and everything should work itself out just fine. It is time to look at your decor and make some fast, possibly hard decisions about which you that you want to portray through your decor. Most bachelors have certain things in common that come through in their chosen decor or lifestyle.

– Sports: This is a common theme among men. You will find plenty of sports memorabilia in a bachelor\’s digs.
– Work: Many men bring their work home. It is not uncommon for a bachelor\’s living room to look like an office.
– Electronics: Men are hoarder\’s when it comes to electronic games and musical instruments
– Blank: Many men have no taste or desire to decorate at all and will have blank walls and bland furnishings.

Go Team Go

What are we trying to say with all of the tacky sports posters and the basketball hoop on the wall? If you have an overabundance of sports stuff, you are simply overstating the obvious. This is not a tragedy. You can still impress the woman of your dreams with a few minor adjustments. First, tone the collection down a bit. You don\’t have to sell it yet, just put some of it away. An autographed baseball from your favorite player says you love the sport without all the posters and pennants. Clear some space on the walls and put up a few framed photographs of favorite family members. Perhaps a nice Muriel or a hanging throw rug would look better over the couch than the team portrait of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Just tone it down.

All Work And No Play

The workaholic in you is great because it shows a woman that you are a provider. However, you cannot be all work and no play. Put that office desk in another room and replace it with a love seat or comfortable couch. You cannot snuggle together in a work chair. If you put all that work away for a bit, she will still fall for you. At the very least, create a corner of the room for comfort and conversation.

Dungeons And Boring

The polar opposite of a workaholic is a gamer. If your apartment is one big video store come game room, it is time to put away childish things and find the real you. Think about the things that you like that are not related to a play station and surround yourself with that instead. If you still struggle with who you are, take a nice and leisurely stroll through the malls and flea markets in your area. You will be surprised at what jumps out at you.

Save Me Blankman

If you are blankman, you may be in a spot of trouble. If you have not found anything that you like enough to hang on the wall or place on a knick-knack shelf, then odds are, you will not now. The best thing that you can do now is the one thing you should have done a long time ago. Ask for help from someone who knows you. Better yet, ask \”her\” for help. A little honesty goes a long way and if there is one thing a woman loves to do, it is to get creative with decor. Women are natural decorators because they are so creative and intuitive of whom we really are. It is as my dad always said; if you want to know who you really are, ask your wife or girlfriend. They know because they are with you for who that is.
