Travel Speakers: A Must Have

With summer coming, many more of us are getting ready to travel. Whether you are getting ready to hit the road in your car, or making plans to catch a plane somewhere, a travel speaker to bring along with you is a great idea.

I\’ve always done quite a bit of traveling for work, and for fun. Since starting to bring the small portable speakers with me a while ago, I can\’t even imagine not having one now while being gone on travel. They are especially great for when you get back to your hotel room at the end of a long day, rather than put the television on, you can lay back, relax in your bed, and listen to music. They are nice to bring out to the pool, or the beach, places I\’m frequently find myself at while traveling for fun.

When traveling for work, many times I find myself alone in conference rooms, or even working in my hotel room, and those are also great times to have a little music playing to break up the monotony of a long workday.

I\’ve purchased, and owned many portable speakers. I\’d like to offer the following advice that I think may help you when you decide to purchase a travel speaker for your next trip.

I like to make a list in regards to the following topics, which help to keep me on track while shopping (especially when you will have so many options to choose from).

* Price Range
* Size
* Features
* Audio Quality

Price range, deciding how much money you are willing to spend will help to narrow down the choices available to you. Size, where will you be using and storing the speaker? Will it need to fit in your purse, backpack, jacket pocket, suitcase? Put some thought into where and how you\’ll be using the travel speaker, that will in turn help you decide on the dimensions that will work for you (if your dimensions are very specific don\’t forget to check the product dimensions on the box or in the online description). Features, a very important topic. First, and foremost make sure the model is compatible with your music device or devices. Typically, these days most devices connect through a 3.5mm audio jack. Some other questions to ask yourself in regards to features: rechargeable or traditional batteries? Volume control on the unit itself? Does it come with a warranty? Does it come with a travel bag or case? Do I want a remote? These are just a few examples. Lastly, after finding a model that meets all the criteria on your list make sure the audio quality lives up to your expectations. Find out how the speaker sounds at high, and low volumes. Some speakers can have a hissing noise at low volume, and some tend to pop or cut out at higher volume, so keep an ear out for this.
