5 Reasons Why You Should Not Be Using An IPod During Exercise

It would always be fun to have an iPod everywhere you go. When you feel bored and you have nothing to do, you just grab your iPod and it keeps you company. But there are moments that you have to avoid using your iPod especially when you exercise. Here are 5 reasons why you should not use your iPod during exercise:

1. You will damage your iPod.

When you exercise, you are doing lots fast of movements, especially when you are running and as you go on, you begin to sweat. You have your iPod attached to your waist. While you are doing some jumping exercises, your iPod can easily jump out of the pouch and fall to the floor into pieces.

2. It is not safe while you are jogging outside.

You just want to feel the beat of the music while running, since it keeps you going. There is nothing you can hear except the sound from your iPod. You made a turn, and suddenly a car just went by you miss an inch close to your skin. You freaked out and shouted at the driver, but it was your fault; the car honked at a distance before you made the turn.

3. It will distract others.

You are all suited up for workout with your shiny, tight spandex and then you enter the gym with a bang. All eyes turned to you as the sound of your iPod creates a noise. Would you not feel scared if a burly, 300-pound Hulk Hogan look-alike throws a towel at you because you made him mad? Probably not, if you are the Undertaker. But then again, you are just the average normal guy. In this case, better run on the treadmill without your iPod than end up in the hospital.

4. You will become dependent

Every time you exercise you always have your iPod. When you don’t have it, you don’t have the urge to exercise. You feel the need for it, the need for speed, for energy. And when you have your iPod and the battery went low, there is no music to listen to. You suddenly feel your muscles are aching. You are just like a car that just ran out of gas. Exercise should not be about music; it should be about you.

5. It will take you more time to finish your exercise or not finish at all.

You started your exercise early at the gym. After a five-minute stretching exercise, you did a few lifts and felt the need to rest for a while. You played a game with your iPod and the game seems to challenge you. It took you an hour to finish the game, and before you knew it, gym time is up. You just decided to go home.
Music is meant to enhance your exercise routines, but it should not consume you. The iPod is an amazing gadget, but using it too much will only make you more dependent on it. Motivation and inspiration should not come from music only-achieving your personal goals should be your best motivator.
