The 2008 release of the Davidoff Reserva 12 is a limited edition release. It has a blend of five different filler tobaccos that were allowed to age for as long as twelve years in the Dominican Republic. They were then combined together to create an exceptional blend that is adored by many. Each one was carefully wrapped in the sun ripened leaf cultivated with care in Ecuador. The Davidoff Reserva 12 comes in a large Robusto Extra size of 5 1/2 inches in length with a ring gauge of 52. They are available in either wooden boxes of ten, or sold individually. Each cigar is carefully adorned with the classic Davidoff label.

The Davidoff name is known throughout the world as one of the most prestigious and established cigar manufacturers. The entire line of Davidoff cigars is known for their flawless construction, perfect draw and ultimate quality. The brand began as early as 1911, when the Davidoff family fled modern day Russia to live in Geneva. There, Henri Davidoff opened his first Cigar Store. His son, Zino Davidoff, left school in 1925 to devote himself to the tobacco business. He traveled for five years, meandering through Argentina, Brazil and Cuba learning all he could about the cultivation and production of tobacco. In 1930, Zino returned to his father\’s shop in Geneva, bringing with him the wealth of knowledge he learned abroad. He built a cigar humidor in the basement of the store, which was the perfect way to store his high quality cigars in ideal climate conditions. From then on, he worked tirelessly to make the Davidoff brand a highly prized and world famous brand. This name is respected highly throughout the cigar smoking world.

The wrapper for the Davidoff Reserva 12 is made from the Ecuador Special Sun Grown. It is a darker wrapper, with medium sized veins throughout. The burn is flawless, as is the case with most Davidoff cigars. At the beginning of the burn, the ash had a flowering effect that very quickly corrected itself. It stayed strong and tight, even through the second third of the cigar. The color of the ash was a very light gray.

The flavor of the Davidoff Reserva 12 is unlike any other. The pre light draw has a taste of earth and grass. Once it is lit, the first third has a slight pepper taste with hints of wood. The second third brings back that grassy note that you experience in the pre light draw. Added to that are notes of toasted wood and a hint of leather. In the final third, you are still experiencing the notes of wood with just the slightest hint of leather.

Davidoff Reserva 12 is an exquisite cigar. It is what many would call a vintage smoke. The blend of the five filler tobaccos make this a strong and complex cigar, but enjoyable for those memorable moments that are worth celebrating! Whomever you choose to share one of these treats with, they will be sure to thank you!
