The exteriors come in assorted thicknesses or gauge. The price of the structure should vary accordingly. Consumers need to be aware of the ratio of material costs to labor costs. A specific size of a structure with a medium gauge outer skin should be comparable everywhere, not used to hide inflated labor costs.

Consumers can purchase the structures in kits and assemble them on their property. With some research discount prices can be found on kits ordered but not shipped. The structures are cut from large sections when the order is placed for the kit. If the kit is not delivered it is sold as cut. Buyers willing to accept the layout and options of the kit can then buy them at a discount.

The kits are then shipped to the site by common carrier. It is the responsibility of the buyer to unload and erect the structure. Or the buyer can act as a general contractor and sub out the build, as with any other structure.

The added savings from the discounted kit may afford the buyer ample funds to then customize the structure to suit their needs. Or to add or modify accessories that are part of the kit.

When choosing a steel building for farm use the same considerations to weather and environment should be used as for any permanent structure. In the case of skin only shelters more care should be given to wind loads. Basically thought it is still a large box shaped mass, the same as any other structure.
