Effects Of Hypnosis On Health
There is a lot of debate on the effects of hypnosis like to help people stop smoking, lose weight or cease drug additions. In a nutshell, hypnosis is not magic. Some people can attain a coma-like state in a matter of minutes, while others take nearly an hour using hypnosis. Here, the person hypnotized is the focus, not the hypnotist, since that is where the depth actually is, as lots of hypnotists believe that they have the power within them to hypnotize people.
Lots of hypnotists believe that during hypnosis, they have full control over their hypnotized clients, and they believe that they can make people do things that they normally wouldn’t do. However, one just cannot say if the hypnotized would likely do such things under normal circumstances. It is proven that hypnosis brings down critical faculties (ie lowers the inhibitions) which would enable an individual to behave in a way he or she would normally find very difficult to. But, this means that they are allowed to do those ‘abnormal’ things, and are not made to do it.
This confusion arises due to the fact that people under hypnosis do things they wouldn’t normally do, but wouldn’t actually do anything that they actually don’t want to do, whether under hypnosis or not, due to moral or social reasons. No matter how talented a hypnotist is, he cannot change the mindset of the hypnotized and make him do anything against his moral beliefs. But his or her gentle powers of suggestions can help channel positive changes that the mind does actually want, like learning weight loss control and learning how to replace negative health habits with positive healthier choices like eating better and getting exercise instead of smoking and doing drugs.
Beware of what you see
Hypnosis performed on stage can lead you to believing lots of crazy things, but remember that those people have been hand-picked by the hypnotists to prove their abilities. So when, on stage, a seemingly hypnotized person is commanded to sleep, he or she is probably “hired” to sleep immediately, or pretend to sleep actually. These stage helpers are more than likely actors, knowing that they have to act as a hypnotized people, and do whatever is being commanded to him by the hypnotist. After the show, they can pretend not knowing what they did, thus substantiating the hypnotists’ claim that they could actually hypnotize.
There have been a lot of inductions carried out for various purposes, and barring a few exceptions, people normally report that they felt exactly the same way as they were assured that they would feel. Maybe they just said it on purpose.
When asked to a lot of participants on stage hypnosis, most of them claimed that they hadn’t undergone hypnosis, just to make it look natural. Most of them changed their opinion and said that they were actually hypnotized as soon as they were told that the researcher who asked them questions was an expert in hypnosis and knew that there was no feeling called a hypnotized feeling.
So be leery of “show” programs, and check out hypnosis services to aid in health improvements. They exist, just check out credentials and affiliations, etc. before you take the hypnosis plunge. Then once you do, enjoy the positive health improvements in your life.
