Effects Of Tea On Health
There are lots of benefits and adverse effects of consuming tea which have been proven by a lot of studies, but more often than not, it has been claimed that more consumption of tea is not beneficial to our health. The studies have it, however, that green tea is quite beneficial as the polyphenol content in it can help in the prevention of cancer, but research is still going on to substantiate the same. A suggestion also claims that green tea can help in improving endurance in exercise as it improves fat metabolism. One should consult a doctor before consuming a lot of tea, for preventing the diseases associated with it.
Intake of a huge quantity of tea can also lead to nutritional and such other problems due to the strong bond that the tea polyphenol and the tea caffeine share, even though there is no concrete proof that tea has its harmful effects.
People who are used to black, green, oolong or even white tea would certainly argue that these kinds of teas have a positive health implication. An issue of the Mayo Clinic Health Letter covered in details about the positive and negative effects of tea. Coming back to the point, black, green, oolong and white teas come from the same origin, as each of them is produced from the Camellia sinensis bush’s leaves. These leaves are abundant in flavonoids and polyphenols which work as an antioxidant, which could prevent of simply lower the possibility of a lot of diseases.
Other Distant Advantages
Having touched upon the advantages of tea consumption, there is no sure benefit of consuming tea. Most of the advantages are based on just a sample population, which have resulted in limited finding since there are other factors which could have an impact on the result. Some of the benefits that could arise from tea are:
– Cardiovascular: It’s not yet sure whether drinking tea over a prolonged period of time can have a positive impact on cholesterol, atherosclerosis and blood pressure. There is evidence that green tea may reduce the risk of heart attack, but there is conflicting evidence on black tea reducing heart attack.
– Cancer: It is also uncertain whether consuming black tea regularly has an impact on cancer. White tea has been used for lab tests, and they suggest that white tea can prevent colon cancer, but a full-fledged study hasn’t been done on it so far.
– Bone and Joint Health: Studies indicate that green tea can reduce inflammation relating to arthritis and even reduce the breakdown of cartilage. Some studies also suggest that bone mineral density can also be reduced in older women by consuming tea regularly.
– Memory: Limited studies show that adults in Japan who had more of green tea were less prone to memory-related difficulties than others.
Though it is not a concrete study, it is debated whether tea supplements are the same as the ones used in normal tea, and it is also a topic of discussion whether these supplements provide the same benefits as tea.
