There are major changes going on today in the world\’s financial and economic structures. These changes have been ongoing for a while now, even though the governments and many of the people of many countries have mostly ignored them. They have lacked the will politically to meet challenges to their economies head on and make the necessary changes to solve them and restore their prosperity. Many such countries have English speaking citizens, who now have unique opportunities to improve their personal lives and financial situations by deciding to teach abroad in Korea, which has the most and best paid such opportunities.

Many of these countries nationals currently have diminished economic opportunities in their home countries, or have no prospects at all. As native English speakers they can find many opportunities abroad. Asia and South America are in boom cycles. They are largely debt free and prospering. They also see the advantages of learning to converse in English, the international business and commercial language.

There is no good reason to waste valuable time waiting for the return of the past. Needed reforms that will restore solvency and opportunity to prosper, are likely years away yet. As an individual there is little you can do to influence the actions of government, but there is no need to be at the mercy of negligent officials. This a wonderful time for unemployed workers, those that are not content with their current station in their home country, or newly graduated students, to seek greener pastures teaching abroad for a time.

Working and living abroad, while learning another language, is the type of experience that will get the attention of future prospective employers. This background will set you apart from run of the mill applicants. And may even open doors for you that you otherwise might find closed.

Basic requirements are that you be a citizen of an English speaking country, have a passport, and have received a Bachelor\’s Degree in any major. Prior teaching experience or certification is not needed.

Applicants need to be native English speakers without prior criminal histories. Some employers will restrict hiring to those aged 20 to 55. Contracts run for 10 to 12 months. A one month pay bonus commonly is paid upon completion of a one year contract.

Applications are accepted on line. Hiring decisions are usually made within two weeks, and are based on reviews of the resume, diploma verification, and telephone interviews. Applicants who are personable, friendly, motivational, and likely to command respect in the classroom will have an inside track in the hiring process.

Teachers work independently and will need to be self motivating. Instructional material is provided. Those who enjoy children can request assignments to teach young people from kindergarten or older. High school or adult assignments to teach abroad in Korea may be requested as well.
