Though to find out the right acupuncture point is difficult, you can locate it by two coordinates by using reference point and distance. The reference point is the location on your body like edge of the finger, the highest point of the elbow, etc. you have to measure the distance by your own hand and the unit is called as cun.

The width of your thumb is one cun, the width of three middle fingers is two cun and that of four fingers is three cun. You can find out the primary point of the main meridian and measure with your fingers to find out the supplementary points.
