How to Install a Home Cinema System
Everyone loves going to the movies! The big screen, the sound quality, the darkened room, the smell of movie popcorn wafting all around, it all makes for a great movie watching experience! What if you could have all the excitement of a movie theater right in your own home? With the right equipment and these five easy to follow instructions, you\’ll have a home cinema of your own in no time at all!
Step 1: Know where you\’re going. You can have the best home cinema system that money can buy, but if you don\’t have your system placed properly, you won\’t be able to maximize it\’s effect! It\’s also important to take into account where the available electrical outlets are in the room. Before you start numbering cords, moving furniture around and reading directions for your new speakers, make sure you have a set idea on where you\’re going to put everything to ensure the best sound and image quality.
Step 2: Television placement. Besides your speakers, your TV is the most important part of your home cinema system. You are going to want to make sure that your television is in a place where it is eye level with you when you are seated and that it can be viewed straight on from your favorite seat.
Step 3: Speaker placement. You\’ve already marked out a game plan as far as where you\’d like everything to go in your home cinema system, but you\’re going to want to make sure the placement you\’re considering for your speakers is going to work out. Before you start hooking up all of the necessary cables and wires, make sure your speaker placement is in order!
Step 4: Hooking up. Okay, now it\’s time to get this thing hooked up and going! Place the surround sound speakers equally far apart to the far left and far right of your television and pointed toward the back of the room. Your central channel speaker should be directly above or below your TV with the front edge of the speaker aligned with your screen. Your front speakers should be positioned right next to your television, one on the left and one on the right. Now for the subwoofer! Your subwoofer will need to be set to the side of your room about halfway between your television and your couch or chairs or whatever it is everyone\’s going to be sitting on to experience this amazing new home cinema system. Keep this in mind: the closer to the wall your subwoofer is, the more bass you\’ll get out of your system.
Step 5: Getting wired. No one wants the wires from their system out where everyone can see them, it will take away from the awesomeness that is your new home cinema system! While you\’re hooking up all the wires, run them along baseboards on the floor or even near the top of the room where the ceiling meets the wall. That will keep everything neat and won\’t detract from your new system in the least.
