Everyone owner loves his car. Unfortunately after four or five years of its purchase, the car starts showing signs of disintegrating. Within six or seven years it is completely out of working condition if not taken care of properly. The running life of an average car is about five or six years and definitely not more than that. Then the owners have to take that decision to sell of their cars. Everyone wants an appropriate resale value for their cars. The best way to get that is to junk a car.

Now, some may be struck by the question what exactly is junking a car all about. It is a rather simple process similar to donating a car with some cash in return. We have all seen junk yards. Junk yard is generally a place with a huge area where all the used and worn out cars are dumped. Plenty of cars are kept piled upon one another. Some cars are worn out due to old age while some have been damaged in accidents. No matter what the reason is all unused cars are kept dumped in a junk yard. Now let us address the question of how to junk a car. The easiest way perhaps is to call the salvage yards of one’s residential area if the car is in a running condition. Then all one needs to do is to drive the car to the yard and straight into a huge balance which will weigh the car. The price offered will be according to the weight of the car. This may be the easiest way but this does not pay much. If one wants to junk a car in this way one should expect little money.

Amongst the other ways there is another way out. This process will require some labor and mechanical knowledge on the seller’s part. If one’s car is completely damaged beyond repair or is not in running condition, one can dismantle the cars on his own. To dismantle a car, the seller needs to take some tools and separate out parts of the cars and then pile up the separated parts onto a bigger vehicle, like a trailer and then carry it to the junk yard. This saves some money since the workers do not have to dismantle the car on their own. The seller will get a good price for the separated parts. All the separated parts need to be sorted out and arranged properly. The salvage yards or the junk yards will not accept old rubber tires so while dismantling the car it is imperative for the seller to get rid of the non biodegradable tires and other rubber parts. The metal parts of the car will fetch the maximum amount of money so they must be kept arranged and kept properly.

After dismantling and arranging all the parts properly and stowing them into a trailer, the next time to junk a car is to carry the parts to the salvage yard. It is better to keep the papers of the car, like the registration which proves the ownership of the car with ones self while going to the junk yard since they ask for a proof of ownership. One should be aware of the rules of a salvage yard before going there. Once at the junk yard, a price needs to be negotiated between the buyer and the seller and the transaction is carried out.

The other way to junk a car is very similar to the second process, just that the seller does not have to dismantle the car. Instead he can carry the whole to the junk yard in a tow truck. However, the price the seller will get from the buyer will be a little less since the dismantling of the car will be done by the workers at the junkyard. Junking a car is pretty easy if the above mentioned steps are followed.
