Salt Lake County Utah Real Estate

Salt Lake County was one of the first areas to have any permanent settlements (along with Utah valley) in what is now the state of Utah. In preparation for the upcoming process of statehood, in January 1850 Salt Lake Valley officially became Salt Lake County in the Utah Territory.

Over a one hundred and sixty years later, Salt Lake County is a growing and thriving area, with sixteen communities and six townships, making this is a very diverse county with just under one million people living here. The major city is Salt Lake City, which is the state capital, the center of the LDS religion and is the largest city in Utah.

Salt Lake County has a very stable economy with a lower cost of living than the national average. There is a quality of life here that is hard to duplicate, with an abundance of outdoor recreation that is sure to provide pleasure and enjoyment to the vast majority of the populace. It does not matter if you enjoy water sports, hiking, camping, or are an off road enthusiast, you will find plenty of places to enjoy your hobby. There are a great many people who take advantage of the hiking trails, camping areas, remote areas, bike riding, fishing, boating and hunting. The natural sites here and in other counties are absolutely magnificent, which is one of the major draws for the Salt Lake County real estate market.

People have found that the cost of housing here is lower than the national average and there are so many areas to choose from. Do you want to live in a Condo in a downtown area, or how about one of the many suburbs. Would you prefer more of a county setting or maybe a wooden area, or perhaps you always want to live next to a golf course. All of these options plus many more are available, it may take you some time to choose which area is where you want your next home.

The real estate market in Utah has been like any other market in the United States. It will have times when the sellers can get any asking price (seller\’s market) and other times (like now) the buyers have the upper hand. There are many good deals to be had out there and with the MLS (Multiple Listing Service, the Realtors inventory) currently having a large inventory of unsold homes, this could be a great time to buy.

One last comment, Utah\’s family centered environment with all of the outdoor activities, low cost of living, and the abundance of available homes, you could be hard pressed to find a more complete area to buy your next home then in Salt Lake County Utah.
