Men in today’s dating arena better be skilled at doing three things if they want to compete with all the other men out there: they better be on a social networking site, know how to tweet, and know how to effectively text.

Women do not want to take men from the dark ages that lug around clunky phones and don’t even know how to effectively communicate online. This should be obvious if you read PUA Forum, but sometimes we all need reminders.

If you want to impress a girl, show her how witty you are by texting. If you send her a boring, long, drawn-out text after you meet her, guess what? She’s going to think you are boring. You better know how to keep it short and sweet and even a bit funny.

You don’t have to be a naturally funny guy to be able to text effectively or if you want to know How To Get A Girlfriend. The beauty of texting is you actually have some time to think about what you are going to say. Unlike you do during a conversation when you only think of something witty to say much later, after the fact.

So take advantage of that time in between to make sure you can think of something witty and engage in a good banter with a woman over text or online. Although a huge portion of attraction takes place in person where you each can gauge your chemistry, another longer-lasting aspect of being attracted to someone stems from the brain’s connection to one another.

If you can make her laugh or entertain her through your texting or online banter, you will stand out from the masses of other men she may have in her life. Not all guys are effective in the texting and online banter areas, so anything you can do to shine will put you ahead of the game.

Dating is a competition. It’s a lot like getting a job. You want to impress her initially, and then get your foot in the door. Oftentimes a text is the next logical (and almost expected) step in the dating dance. Make sure you have something memorable to say that won’t bore her. Learning how to text also means learning how to effectively flirt with those written words.

If you feel like you need to brush up on your texting or online communication skills, do that now before any more times passes. It could make the difference between a first date and a second or even from you never hearing from her again.

I like to make sure that my life is interesting enough that I have automatic fodder to text about. For instance, I am a huge Yankees fan and I will often send a quick text when I’m at a game letting her know how much fun I am having. I’m a fun guy and I like to share that side of myself. Now, I’m not going to write some boring text such as “Hello there. I’m at the Yankees Game. How are you?”

It would be more like this: “At Yankees Game! Woot!”

See the difference? It took four words to show I am a fun, interesting guy. You can do the same with a little practice.
