The Chevrolet Suburban is the Ultimate Large SUV
If you have a large family and tow heavy objects (such as a boat or trailer) regularly then come and take a closer look at the 2011 Chevy Suburban. This large luxury SUV can seat up to nine individuals and it’s perfect if you do a lot of towing. The Suburban from Chevrolet is one of the oldest and long running large SUV’s available on the market. Most would expect such a large and heavy vehicle to run a tad slower when it comes to speeding up but the Suburban is not lacking in this department.
It’s quite fast and nimble for such a big ride with enough room to seat eight to nine people, so it’s perfect for large families who plan to tow heavy objects on a regular basis. Some buyers might be turned off by the fact that this vehicle doesn’t have the best gas mileage; however that is to be expected by a vehicle of this size with heavy towing capabilities.
Plenty of safety features have been included such as passenger and driver air bags, On Star Automatic Crash Response, rear parking assist and remote vehicle standard. A tire pressure system is in place which lets you know when pressure needs to be adjusted. There’s tons of trunk space available; a total of 45.8 cubic feet of cargo space is in place which can be expanded to 137.4 cubic feet with the third row of seats removed and the second row folded down. Additional features include fog lamps, a defogger, 4-wheel Anti-Lock Brakes and daytime running lamps.
The cabin is warm and inviting with comfortable and supportive seats. The instrument gauges are intuitive and laid out in a logical manner. Let’s take a look at all the features that are available according to trim. There are three trim levels to choose from. All models come standard with slick 17″ wheels, front seats that are power adjustable for ultimate comfort, a dual climate control system and a Bluetooth system that allows you to place and receive phone calls without taking your hands off the steering wheel. The mid-level LT trim comes with seats appointed in leather and a state-of-the-art sound system.
There is a V6 or a V8 engine available depending on your preference. The V6 is equipped with 352 horsepower and 382 lb feet of torque while the V8 6.0 Liter outputs 320 hp and 382 lb feet of torque. As mentioned earlier, gas mileage isn’t the Suburban’s strong point. It receives 10 miles per gallon in the city and 16 miles per gallon on the freeway. A Fuel Management System is in place which switches from V8 to V4 mode whenever suitable in order to preserve gas. The Suburban goes from 0-60 under 9 seconds which is quick considering its immense size.
Since gas mileage isn’t the best, the Suburban is recommended more for those who transport a large number of people and tow regularly. If your family is between 7-9 people then the Suburban would be the perfect family car. The 2011 model is priced around $41k.
