The Ultimate Foot Massage
Feet get the full load of body weight pushed down on them day end and day out. The aches and pains associated with such abuse have become a part of life. The everyday remedy to such abuse has been merely to sit down and raise the feet. There are many out there that may exclaim that there isn’t anything better than kicking their feet up in something like a recliner at the end of a hard day. That is because they are yet to experience the ultimate foot massage.
The ultimate foot massage is simple and can be achieved in these simple steps.
1. Clean the feet with soap and water. Dissolve a cup of salt per gallon of warm water. Soak the feet for as long as you would like up to 15 minutes. For further pampering add scented oil to the saltwater. Once completed, rinse and dry completely using a warm towel.
2. Elevate the feet on supported surface like a bed or sofa. Get comfortable in a position that is relaxing. Make sure a towel is underneath the feet to keep oils or lotion from dripping.
3.Stretch the foot by rotating it around in circles. Reverse directions a few times. Pull the top of the foot down to stretch it further and then push the top of the foot back towards the subject. Stretches work best when one hand braces the foot by cupping the heel as the other hand moves the foot by clasping the top of the foot near the toes.
4. Apply lotion or oil such as jojoba oil to each foot up to the ankle. Place one hand with the fingers on top of the foot and the other hand with the fingers below the foot. Using both hands, squeeze the foot starting from the tip of the toes down to the ankles. Gently slide your fingers down as you squeeze the foot making certain to follow the contours of the foot. Don’t be too light to the touch as this will result in tickling the foot. Reverse directions and repeat.
5. Rub each toe individually by clasping them with the index finger and thumb. Slightly pull on the toes as you slide your fingers in a circular motion. Push from the bottom of the toe up with less pressure towards the tip of the toes.
6. Gently bend each toe individually and move the toe in it’s full range of motion to loosen any tension.
7. Work in-between the toes using your fingers making sure to put pressure on the top of the foot. Slide fingers in and out and caress the inner toes.
8. Clasp the top of the foot with both thumbs on the bottom of the foot and the fingers on top of the foot. Using your thumbs push the bottom of the foot in half circle motions following the contours of the foot.
9. Repeat steps 3 through 8 depending on how the subject responds to each technique.
10. Repeat steps 3 through 8 for the other foot.
11. Using a warm towel, lightly dry the foot of any excess moisture.
Tip* For the ultimate experience use cold marble stones and warm basalt stones to massage the foot.
