A Brief History of Vampire Movies
As a genre Vampire Movies have certainly stood the test of time. It has not only been the most debated of movie topics but also has the greatest diversity. It has been applied to mainly classic horror, but also seen in romance, comedy and a host of different types applications. There are so many variations that it is hard to choose the one which best suits, personal tastes.
The current count of this type of movie is a startling 170 movies made to date. The earliest and first one made, was a silent movie filmed and released in 1909. These movies were based on the premise that the vampires in question were actual vamps and femme fatales, but definitely not the blood sucking variety. It was all about a woman\’s power of men, without the violence and blood letting.
The complete horror introduction was only seen in 1922, by a German film director. The movie was found to be in violation of copy right laws of the time and ordered destroyed. Fortunately five copies survived and were later restored, for fans around the world to enjoy.
Through the years there have been many interpretations of the legend and how it came to be. Each director had his or her own vision and created a movie to showcase that particular vision. This has led to fans being entertained from beginning to end. There is an opportunity to enjoy the ultimate horror or laughter at the silly antics involved.
One of the popular ideas which grew from the earlier renditions, was that vampires could be destroyed by sunlight as well as a stake through the chest. In fact there have been a number of different ways to depict the demise of the ever popular villain in each and every movie.

Each and every interpretation featured a leading man or leading lady who added their own allure to the specific role. In fact many of the earlier actors and actresses went on to star in a number of different sequels.

The broadcasting of a particular series has naturally led to an upsurge in the movie making industry, and relevant output. Each and every generation has introduced a new spin on the legend, from the inspired to the downright ridiculous.

From the very early renditions right through to the latest offerings has something different to offer, with one central theme, offered throughout. This is a highly addictive genre that appeals to different people in different ways. In truth great vampire movies are really hard to beat. Sit down and watch a soundless classic or shudder in horror in the movie seat when watching one of these later offerings in full 3D.
