One important factor is whether the device interfaces with the computer by cable or wireless means. There are advantages associated with either form of interfacing. If the device can be programmed to either of these two this is an added plus.
For devices that use cable connection, it is important to consider if they come with a Universal Serial Bus or USB connector. If this is the case, then integration into the computer system will be much easier.
Another important consideration before acquiring such a device is to consider if the system is capable of collecting real-time information. This is especially important for industrial applications such as chemical control systems where even slight measurement errors can result to faulty products.
As with any electronic device purchases, a buyer should consider the terms governing the warranty given. Any precautions about the device operation should as well be considered including any personal safety issues or power specifications. Finally, a temperature data logger is usually powered by a battery and this should be replaced as regularly as the manufacturer requires.
