Adding a Touch of Style to Your Garden

The garden’s one of the most overlooked parts of the house. While we live and work indoors, the garden forms that little patch of a space in which one should relax, play and enjoy life away from domesticity.

It’s in the garden that we should enjoy the smell of things growing in the soil, getting dirty without feeling guilty, and generally taking the time to soak up a little peace and serenity. If rainy days were invented so that gardeners could get the housework done, then you want to make the most of your garden when the weather’s permitting.

You could consider hiring in a landscape gardener to professionally design your garden. They will know exactly how to transform a standard garden into an extra, useful, stylish room. If this is something your budget won’t stretch to, or if you enjoy a little bit of garden decorating yourself, there are plenty of things to consider.

A good place to sit is a must in a garden. Consider a bench or a full table and chair set. A parasol is usually a good idea too, so that you have the choice to sit in the shade on a hot day. Once this is in place and your main garden is how you want it then we need to consider decoration, just as you would in a room of your house.

Whether you’re looking to add a bit of light to an otherwise dim space, provide food for the birds, deter unwanted guests or simply add a little bit of fun to your garden, there are plenty of choices.

Providing birds with food brings them into your garden can give you an enormous sense of goodwill; allowing you to marvel at the beauty of birds, but also acting as an ideal way of motivating children about wildlife. Using a range of different types of tables, feeders and bird baths will draw a varied selection of feathered friends to your garden, with different types of birds preferring to feed in different ways. Details such as the position of the feeder, food in the feeder and type of feeder could determine which breed of birds spend time in your garden.

For long after the sun’s gone down, there are a range of solar lighting solutions specifically made for outside use. Just as you would consider the lighting in a room, why not consider the lighting in your garden? After putting in all of the hard work creating an idyllic space outdoors, outside lighting can be seen as the finishing touch, helping you to transform how your garden looks and functions with very little effort. When you want to show off your perfectly pruned handy work, or simply add a little bit of mood lighting while you entertain guests after dark, outdoorlighting should be a top priority.

If you want to give your garden a splash of je ne c\’estquois, you may want to consider adding sculptures or ornaments. Some ornaments now come with LED’s to add some colour at night, but they also help to deter pests.
