Edmonton, Calgary, and the surrounding cities and municipalities had 542 alcoholism-related support groups in 2010 and seventy-seven narcotics anonymous groups for anyone experiencing problems with narcotics.

Participation in one of the intervention programs available for drug use and abuse in Alberta can be a difficult process for the individual, as well as for his or her loved ones.
