Could Stem-Cell Vitamins Be One Answer to Your Health Problems?
In the news in recent years has been the controversial discussion of embryonic stem cells. Then lately I started hearing about adult stem cells and stem cell vitamins and wondered how good they are.
So I started doing my own research… and I have been absolutely amazed at what I have found! In this article, I won’t refer to references, but if you want them, feel free to contact me and ask. There are a ton of references, studies made, etc.
Stem cells are often referred to as “master” cells since they can develop into most tissues and organs. Stem cells are the fundamental building blocks that exist within our bodies. They are in the bone marrow, fat, brain, muscles, eyes, heart, and basically, in all tissues of the body.
There are two types in your body: embryonic and adult. While the embryonic stem cells have been controversial, there is not a controversy over the adult stem cells, which occur naturally in your body.
Adult stem cells can generate many, if not all, of the tissues of the body. In a paper published in May, 2001, researchers found that one adult bone marrow stem cell could regenerate, not only marrow and blood, but also form liver, lung, digestive tract, skin and heart muscle.
All stem cells are capable of dividing and renewing themselves for long periods of time and they can give rise to specialized cells. They have the ability to develop into many different cell types. When a stem cell divides, it may remain a stem cell or it may become another type of cell with a more specialized function. It serves as a repair system for the body and can divide without limit to replenish other cells.
Adult stem cells have been shown to be effective in treating animal models of disease, including diabetes, stroke, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s Disease, and retinal degeneration.
In addition, adult stem cells are already being used clinically to treat many diseases in human patients. These include reparative treatments with various cancers and autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and lupus. They are also being used to treat patients by formation of cartilage, growing new corneas to restore sight to blind patients and treatments for stroke.
It is important to mention that in these treatments, a patient’s own stem cells can be used, circumventing the problems of immune rejection and without tumor formation. They have even been successful in regenerating damaged tissue, including damaged heart or brain tissue.
The primary purpose of adult stem cells is to maintain and repair tissue in our body. As we get older, our adult stem cells decrease in number and begin to lose their ability to maintain a healthy immune system. As they degenerate, we become more susceptible to injury, degenerative disorders, and health-related issues. Thus, it is very important that we keep our adult stem cells healthy.
In doing the research for this article, I discovered that there are clinics that will do therapy for their patients, using a patient’s own adult stem cells. This certainly may be an option for some people, if you have the financial means to go this route. It is doubtful that your insurance would pay for the treatment.
A viable alternative for most of us might be to supplement our diet or vitamin regimen with a good quality stem cell vitamin. Stem cell nutrition helps overcome the aging process by promoting the release of adult stem cells in the body. This could be done at an affordable price and may provide you with outstanding health benefits.
