The bathroom generally has a small space. But despite of the lack of area to work with, it is important that you properly design your bathroom.

Have appropriately sized fixtures. Your vanity sets, the bathtub, the sink and all other fixtures that are present in the bathroom should have sizes that are suitable to the size of the room. When you have considered this design tip, you can spare yourself the trouble of having to think about allotting space for the pathway or avoiding making the bathroom look crowded.

As the bathroom is supposed to be a space where one can relax in, having furniture that do not look intimidating or are not undersized will allow for this to happen.

Add for another person. When the bathroom is being used by more than one person, it can be a good thing to add another bathroom sink, for example. This can be present in the bathroom vanity or it may also be installed into the room itself.

No compromise in design will be made but, the room will become more efficient to use.

Have storage space. There are several spaces that you can use for storage. Most bathroom vanities come with drawers and shelves. You may also add cabinets in an extra corner of the bathroom. Also, shelves may be installed at higher places to place your supply of toiletries, towels, and other items.

There should be good ventilation. A well ventilated room is more appealing than a poorly ventilated one. This can be because of the maintenance of a pleasing temperature in the room. Also, it may be attributed to the fact that a well ventilated room allows for faster drying of the floors, the shower stalls, etc. In the long run, you will be able to avoid watermarks or the growth of molds.

Install exhaust fans or windows in strategic places to have good ventilation.

Arrange properly. Avoid placing the toilet near the door. Also, the shower stall should be at the farthest part of the room and, as much as possible, should be isolated from other parts of the bathroom.

Have various textures. This applies to the furniture present in the bathroom. Since you are probably going for a waterproof room, most of the fixtures present will be made from plastic, the floors will be made from tiles or concrete. To balance the look of the room, consider placing soft cushions or fabric curtains in dry parts of the room.

Consider safety. The floors need to be non-skid. It might also help if you can leave space on the walls for installation of hand rails. These safety features are most important when an elderly person is using the bathroom.
Light it well. A properly lit bathroom also prevents injuries from happening.

Furthermore, it will have a better appeal. A bathroom can be lighted by a single lamp at the middle of the room. But, it may also be designed with lights around the vanity set, overhead lamps, or repressed lights on the walls.
