Is There a Link Between Aluminum and Alzheimer\’s?

Controversy Between Scientists

There is much debate about the role of aluminum in the development of Alzheimer\’s. Because of these discussions and controversy less research has been carried out than desired on the possibility that aluminum (UK/Ireland/Australia: Aluminium) is a contributory factor in the causality of Alzheimer\’s disease.

Aluminum One of The Factors or Not?

As you can read in many documents and other information one still doesn\’t really know what are the causes (or is the cause) of Alzheimer\’s Disease.

There are indications that genetic factors play a role. In particular, the special form of early onset Alzheimer is indicated to be hereditary. Further, a number of factors is mentioned which could play a possible role. Only nobody knows really sure.

In the world of alternative medicine is much talking about the lifestyle and what food we eat and drink. Physicians and researchers within regular health-care think that environmental factors such as virus infections, toxins, head injuries and metabolic disorders may be involved. Aluminum is currently listed as co-perpetrator of a number of other diseases, especially cancer. It is therefore advisable to devote more research to the relationship with Alzheimer\’s.

Aluminum How Does It Look?

The visible form of Aluminum is the metal we know as being used to make pots and pans, airplanes or tools. There is an invisible form of Aluminum too, which is soluble in other materials and has a non-metallic form.

Invisible Aluminum Is In The Food We Eat And In The Air We Breathe

Aluminum is one of the elements we all have in our bodies. Scientists believe a small amount of it is useful for us, but until now they don\’t know what the exact role is.

Aluminum in its non-metallic form is found in the earth. Plants absorb it and animals and people eat those plants as their vegetables. So we get it directly from the plants and also through the meat we eat.

Drinking water contains aluminum as a natural component and some municipalities at it to the drinking water as an additive.

Cosmetics

The cosmetic industry uses it too. For example you\’ll find it in some deodorants. You are warned to be careful using deodorants with transpiration inhibitors directly after shaving your arm-pits. Shaving may cause little injuries allowing the chemicals to penetrate into your blood.

As we have seen we absorb aluminum on a natural way. There is no reason to be concerned about that. Most is flushed out of the body by the kidneys. Maybe there is a reason to be concerned about the extra adding of aluminum in all kinds of products.

The Aluminum Utensils

There is a clear difference between old-fashioned aluminum pots and pans and the modern coated/non-stick or hard-anodized aluminum pans. The change of extra aluminum getting into your food through the old-fashioned non-coated pans is with no doubt higher than it is using the coated/non-stick or hard-anodized aluminum pans.

The difference between both is clearly to distinguish: the new type of pans are steely gray or black.

When using the non-coated pans, we advise you to clean them with normal washing-up liquid or dish soap. DO NOT clean with soda or bleach and DO NOT use scouring-things because they damage or eliminate the surface. The bare metal misses the corroded layer resulting in more metal ions to be released.

We also advise you to store acid food in non-aluminum storage boxes, because acid dissolves and accumulates aluminum.

Conclusion

It is not for sure aluminum has a relationship to the development of Alzheimer\’s. Nevertheless, it is wise to be careful with it. But don\’t be to ridiculous with it. Small amounts of aluminum are flushed out of the body through our urine.
