Luggage: What You Need to Know

If it has been fifty years since you last updated your luggage collection, you may find that times have changed quite a bit. The standard is being set by companies like OEM luggage, which produces a number of high quality modern bags. OEM hand carts are another handy item, especially if you know you will be carrying quite the luggage load. A hand cart can be used to load up all of your bags so that the entire load may be pushed with two hands.

Now that air travel has become a particularly common occurrence, luggage makers have done much to fashion new bags to suit every need out there. Because many of us travel for work more than we do for pleasure, bags have been created especially with business needs in mind. Modern airport restrictions have also given rise to new bags; these are smaller and more lightweight so as to ensure passengers do not surpass weight limits set by airlines. Modern bags are also designed with ease in mind and no one wants to tote a fifty pound bag across the country, and so most people purchase luggage sets that come equipped with wheels.

Trunks are still created by big name designers, such as Louis Vuitton, but most people do not use these for traveling anymore. If you are a celebrity and are followed by attendants everywhere you go so that you never have to lift your own trunk, you may want to purchase one. But the rest of us would rather not have to worry about transporting such a bulky box. Most people who own trunks use them as at-home storage bins and many of which are quite aesthetically pleasing.

Modern suitcases have replaced trunks as the most often used means of packing goods. These come in many different styles but most seem to have one thing in common: a set of wheels. The wheels make it easier for travelers to tote heavy weights across long distances, rolling a suitcase can make it feel like it weighs much less than it actually does. Many come equipped with locks, or can be fitted with locks, so that your items will be secure throughout your travels. Depending upon the needs or tastes of the user, these luggage items can be made of either soft or hard materials and may feature any number of outer or inner pockets. Soft suitcases are actually incredibly durable, and are often made from nylon or other long-lasting materials. Hard suitcases are an excellent option for those who are travelling with materials which may break in a soft suitcase.

For those who plan on traveling very light, shoulder bags and backpacks are available. Backpacks are favored among backpackers hence the name who travel thriftily throughout Europe or South America. Because people generally go on these long treks to see rather than be seen, they do not need to pack more than the bare essentials. Shoulder bags are a great option for road trips, where there may not be enough room in the car for everyone’s suitcase.
