A nurse is an occupation or profession that has gradually gained popularity in the recent years. This has led to the advent of several nursing training institutes in the country and world. There were loopholes in this type of education however. This kind of nursing training often left the nursing trainees asking for more. They did not know any of the specifics related to diseases. They did not know how to treat patients with certain specific conditions. They were merely exposed to the basic skills such as bed making.

Nevertheless, these insufficiencies in nursing education were observed, and gradually a more consistent and comprehensive nursing education curriculum was being developed. One of the factors that led to major developments in the realm of nursing education was the fact that a lot of people were dying, especially from the several wars during the day.

From then on, the government finally recognized an official nursing education curriculum. The skills they were exposed to were generally emergency response skills, which were very much needed in the battlefields. There was still a lot lacking from the nursing curriculum. They still lacked all the knowledge that was needed to understand certain medical conditions. This knowledge was necessary in order for nurses to properly care for their patients with specific medical conditions.

Finally, the current nursing curriculum was developed. They start out having to learn the basic skills required of nurses such as cleaning of the beds and treating wounds. They are then exposed to the realities of the hospital. They have hands on experience with the current medical technology so as to keep them current in terms of medical knowledge. Moreover, they are exposed to a ton of specialized knowledge of specific medical terminologies and information. In addition, those wanting to learn even more about the profession may opt to get a master’s degree in nursing.
