If you can’t drive then you want to pick a complex that is within walking distance to local stores. Safety can be a concern; make sure that the apartment is gated and has a security system. Find out if the grounds are patrolled at night. Google the area and find out the crime level for the surrounding area.

Prices vary; some communities are very affordable while others may be very upscale and pricier. Think about you are willing to spend realistically. You want to get the best features and amenities possible while still staying within your set budget. One option is subsidized housing but there is usually a long waiting list.
