The Polurrian Bay Hotel in Cornwall Launches in July 2011

Destined to become Cornwall’s premier family Hotel

Perched on the cliffs amongst 12 acres of landscaped gardens, on Cornwall\’s Lizard peninsula, the Polurrian Bay Hotel is launching this July, following an impressive make-over.

The hotel is set right on the south-west coastal footpath and has its own pristine sandy beach, at Polurrian Cove.

The 41 bedroom hotel is being positioned as the quintessential ‘family seaside hotel’ with a homely house party style atmosphere, offering great, locally sourced food and an array of children’s facilities; all at an affordable price for families.

Guests can make use of the hotel’s leisure facilities, which include a cliff-top tennis court, with panoramic sea views, and two swimming pools (one outdoor and one indoor heated pool). For young ones there’s a separate playground area, and for those aged between three months and eight years, the hotel offers a spacious and complimentary Ofsted registered ‘Den’ with plenty of toys, games and activities to keep even the most energetic children amused. For older kid’s and teens, there is the ‘Blue Room’ – children can use this free of charge at any time and absorb themselves in the latest video games, or indulge in a game of pool or table football. Within the hotel there is also a ‘cinema room’, showing films for couples and families alike.

For adults, the hotel offers a ‘Purity Spa’ where parents can escape for relaxing and reviving facials, massages and wraps using luxurious Elemis products as well as Spiezia Organics.

Beyond the hotel, a wide range of sporting activities can be arranged from cycle hire and horse riding to surfing and golf. There’s also a huge choice of exceptional beaches close by, such as family friendly Poldhu Cove and Praa Sands as well as the world famous beach at Kynance Cove.

The property was acquired in February 2011 by Nigel Chapman’s Halcyon Hotels Group. There are further plans to bring in similar properties as a new ‘generation’ of family hotels, each with their own distinctly welcoming and stylish character.

Between 08/07/2011 and 04/09/2011, rooms cost from £150 per room, per night, including breakfast and VAT, based on two adults sharing an inland facing refurbished room. Children under 12 stay FREE year round in their parent\’s room, on an accommodation only basis (subject to the suitability of the room to take extra beds).

Directions

Road

Once in Cornwall, head for Truro and take the A39 towards Falmouth and Helston and then the A394 to Helston. At Helston, follow the signs towards The Lizard and Mullion, onto the A3083.

Continue to head for The Lizard and Mullion until after about 5 miles you reach a right-hand turn signposted for Mullion onto the B3296. This will take you through the main street of Mullion which is a small one-way system, and when you come to a T-junction opposite Christopher’s estate agents, turn left (signposted to Mullion Cove).
After about half a mile along this road, passing the Post Office and the Cricket Club on your left, you will see a right turn with a sign for the Polurrian Bay Hotel. We are at the very end of this road, on the right.

Rail

Our nearest railway stations are Truro or Redruth, both about one hour’s drive away. Taxis should be available outside the station, or we can book in advance for you if requested. For those who opt for “greener” travel, the buses leave from just outside the station, and the service goes to Helston, where passengers have to change and catch another bus to Mullion.
