The Silent Killer
The silent killer. That’s what scientists have called chronic inflammation ever since Time Magazine revealed about a decade ago that the body’s natural response to attack might lead to the body attacking itself and being responsible for everything from acne to Alzheimer’s disease.
Chronic inflammation is apparently the culprit for a host of ailments and diseases.
One way some people are fighting back is by drinking Nopalea Juice because it is made from the Prickly Pear Cactus. The native Sonoran plant is a natural anti-inflammatory. Scientists are studying the connection between the plant and its ability to stop inflammation in its tracks.
According to the cover story in Time Magazine, the link between chronic inflammation and diseases such as cancer and other chronic ailments such as arthritis is still being researched.
The idea is that while inflammation is the body’s natural immune response to bacteria and other invasion by foreign bodies, sometimes the inflammation continues once the battle has been one and then it goes haywire and becomes chronic.
When the inflammation stays around after the battle is won, it is essentially attacking a body that is healthy. This is what researchers think might be leading to other ailments and illnesses.
Long before the Time Magazine article was published, the Prickly Pear Cactus was already world famous for its medicinal properties. People already drink its juice to maintain health, but also to help prevent future illness and disease.
It is believed that the plant has been both a food and medicine for hundreds of years. It grows rampant in the Sonoran desert and its history and folklore tales of its importance date back to the time of the Aztecs. Now, the plant grows worldwide.
It is thought that Spanish explorers were the first to bring back the Prickly Pear Cactus to Europe. It is now not only grown around the world, but it is intentionally planted and harvested as a food and medicine product.
It is said that the cactus is also known as the Nopal Cactus, which is probably where Nopalea Juice first got its name.
The all-natural juice is fortified with natural juice extracts and concentrates and sweetened with Agave nectar. In its original form, the Prickly Pear Cactus juice is less appealing than the Nopalea Juice.
Natural Prickly Pear Cactus juice is more of an acquired taste as it is somewhat slimy and green. The marketed Nopalea Juice is a lovely sunset color and tastes of dozens of different yummy fruits, such as blueberry and apple. It also contains a special property called betalains.
Betalains are natural pigments that act as anti-oxidants. You can only find them in a few foods, such as the prickly pear cactus, beets, and Swiss chard.
The famous Dr. Mehmet Oz has jumped on the Prickly Pear Cactus bandwagon by promoting the plant on at least two episodes of his television show. He spoke about how the plant can help people with diabetes regulate blood sugar levels, but also how the plant can help relieve the symptoms of a hangover.
Author Bio: Frank Yocanis has been researching and writing about Nopal Juice for the past decade. He has even traveled to the Sonoran desert half a dozen times to study how Nopalea contains amazing properties that help with all kinds of joint pain, including reducing swelling. He is excited to share how this antioxidant-rich drink can change your life.
