This system was popularized as it so conveniently produces hot water, and heating for the home at the same time. The biggest disadvantage associated with home boilers is that if the system stops working, the household has no heating and no hot water.

How a furnace works in an industrial setting is similar to how the boiler works in a home. The basic principles surrounding functionality are the same. The difference is that industry can utilize a range of different kinds of furnace, depending on what is being produced and the manufacturing requirements.

The fuel is placed into the burner, in the industrial furnace. Next it mixes with air and heat is produced. The hot air heats tubes to the temperature that is needed. This process is called the radiant section. Hot gas then has any extra heat removed and returned to the system. Cooler air which is no longer required can then be directed outside.
