Your Mattress: A Sleep Solution

There is a big difference between a sleep per se and a good night sleep. If getting your well-deserved zzzz’s is becoming a perennial problem for you, hold that thought of spending thousands of dollars on prescription drugs and expensive consultations with those so-called “sleep experts”. Chances are, the culprit may not be too far from your bedroom. Have you checked at your sleeping mattress lately?

Studies and experience often suggest that our choice of sleeping mattresses and bed covers often have an effect on how well we can get a good night sleep and how we perform with our daily activities. Why? Well our body gets the utmost rest when we sleep which can only be achieved by a good sleeping position that is made possible by a comfortable bed and sleeping mattress.

When we sleep, our back should be straight and our neck should be supported by a nice, soft pillow with just enough height in order to encourage proper breathing and prevent snoring. When choosing the right sleeping mattress to help induce sleep, an oversized soft mattress pad may just be the key. Opt for the polyester fiber kind that is soft enough for comfort but not too soft to create a crooked back for you. A washable Micro fiber-made mattress is also a good option if you want the low maintenance kind.

Pillows also play a great part in sleep inducement. Choose a regular-sized pillow that is enough to support your neck. You can also go for fluffy pillows that you can cling to or hug for extra warmth. For light sleepers, it also helps to use specialized pillows such as a u-shaped body pillow that is perfect for pregnant women as well as tri-sectional pillows.

Bed and mattress covers are also necessary in promoting good sleep. Topmost on your list should be those hypoallergenic covers in case you are asthmatic or you are prone to allergies. As much as possible, choose soft cotton over nylon or any other materials for your cover. Look for mattress cover that have a higher thread count since they are guaranteed to be much softer, cooler and friendly to the skin. Silk can be sexy, but not when you are trying to catch up on your sleep! They can prove to be uncomfortable and can make you slide off the bed.

Start finding the right sleeping solution for you today. You can start scouting for one by searching online, reading magazines, visiting your local department store and ask for assistance, or by joining forums that talk about the right mattresses and covers that will help you have a good night\’s rest.

However, if you are in a budget is a concern and the possibility of getting that sleep-inducing mattress seems elusive now, try the practical solutions instead. Habits like having a good diet, exercise, avoiding smoking and practicing a regular sleep pattern are only some of the remedies that do not cost you and can help you get a better sleep.
