Benefits of Living in Manchester City Centre

Living in a Manchester city centre property has lots of benefits, and a lot of these benefits come down to personal preference. City centre areas tend to appeal to students, graduates and young professionals because they are near to all of the hustle and bustle of city life and don’t have a long way to commute to work.

City centre living is ideal for a graduate or young professional because it means they are (more than likely) close to their place of work, but also close to the nightlife. Properties in the city do tend to be slightly more expensive than properties on the outskirts but you end up saving money in other ways. For example, living in the centre of town usually means you can walk everywhere, or hop on a cheap tram, and unless you are travelling a long distance you won’t need a car – saving you money on car insurance and petrol – both of which are very expensive nowadays. Also, transport links around Manchester are efficient and inexpensive (especially compared to London). Although you may be paying a bit more to live in the city, you’ll be saving money on travel expenses and you’ll be near to all of the culture and vibrancy city life brings.

Living in the city means you are surrounded by culture, and Manchester has a lot to offer in terms of restaurants, museums, nightlife, theatres and cinemas. The city also has a diverse range of architecture ranging from red-brick buildings from the days of the cotton trade to modern concepts like the Beetham tower, which accommodates the Hilton hotel and luxury city centre apartments. Manchester also has hundreds of parks and gardens so without travelling too far you can escape from city life and find somewhere tranquil.

Cities also have an abundance of employment opportunities compared to smaller areas or smaller towns, so you are more likely to find work and won’t have a long commute to your job either. If you live especially close to your place for work, you can head home for your lunch break instead of splashing cash every lunch time on sandwiches or meals out. The city also is home to Granada Television headquarters, and just a short tram ride away in Salford BBC has set up a new HQ moving a lot of its job opportunities to Manchester from London.

The city is huge for sport as it’s host to two very successful premier league football teams, Manchester United, which has the largest football ground in the UK, and Manchester City, the richest football company in the world.

There are a number of reputable estate agents in Manchester who will be able to find you your ideal city centre property. Over recent years Manchester city centre living developments have expanded leaving you with a variety if options for city centre living. Whether you are after one of Manchester’s old and established old mill conversion flats or a brand new development, your estate will be able to help you find a suitable property.
