Enjoying the Grand Canyon With Las Vegas Bus Tours
There is nothing more exciting or more adventuress than going on a vacation via a bus. You get to know everyone and see things that you have only read about. That is what happens when you take one of the Las Vegas bus tours to the Grand Canyon. There are several choices when booking the trip, including combining it with a helicopter ride, a boat trip or visiting the Grand Canyon Skywalk.
You have a choice between visiting the West Rim or the South Rim, either of which gives you a chance to enjoy the majestic beauty of this natural creation. Standing on the rim you will be overwhelmed at the many beautiful colors and formations that go all the way from the top to the canyon\’s floor.
You will have a chance to see people riding mules down a steep trail to the canyon\’s floor, the buildings and the Colorado River that flows through the gorge, all looking very small when viewed from the rim of the gorge. These buildings actually represent an authentic Indian village, pioneer buildings and others which are called the Grand Canyon Village. It is this tiny looking river that actually forged this mile deep creation in the earth, beginning several million years ago.
Many different tribes of Indians have lived in the canyon and it was visited by Spaniards, Europeans and Americans. It was declared a National Park in 1919 and has enjoyed visitors ever since. At the current time the Havasupai and the Hualapai Indian Tribes are still living in the area.
The Hualapai Indian Tribe will be found on the Canyon\’s west rim and if you take that tour you will be able to view and purchase some of their authentic Indian art creations. These people are the ones who have developed the famous Skywalk on which you will be able to walk out, over the canyon, for a spectacular view. Be sure and bring your camera and lots of film as this is the adventure of a lifetime.
This skywalk is a huge circular platform that goes out 70 feet above the canyon and extends 4,000 feet. Although it might look frightening, it is actually very safe to walk on. Not only is it designed to withstand winds up to 100 miles per hour but the floor is solid glass that is 4 inches thick so you can look straight down or peer over the railing. It can hold 70 tons but is limited to 120 people at a time.
You might also be able to view some of the animals who roam free throughout the region. This would be bighorn sheep and deer, birds and raptors, 47 different species of reptiles and lizards, wolves, coyotes, mountain lions and foxes. It is interesting to note that the bighorn sheep grow to be the size of a mule.
There are a wide variety of Las Vegas bus tours of the Grand Canyon available. These can be overnight, all inclusive with meals, coordinating with helicopter rides, or other choices. It is important to book reservations early as this is a very popular excursion.
