Other pre-engineered systems can be used in home settings, and they are better than sprinklers because there is less damage, and are affordable.

Fires and burns are the leading cause of home injuries and death, though it is hard to know how many of these places had fire extinguishers, most of them probably didn’t. 62 % of reported home fire deaths resulted in having no smoke alarms or faulty ones. This tells you that people are not doing what they can to prevent a fire. There should be fire extinguishers on every level of any building, especially in the kitchen and garage. It is important to have a fire extinguisher in the kitchen because cooking is the leading cause of fire in small, confined areas which could be prevented easily with a fire extinguisher.

As you can tell from these statistics, it is important to have at least one fire extinguisher, or an automatic fire extinguisher system. Don’t just rely on smoke alarms that may or may not work. Remember to study up on these and buy the right one, especially if you deal with any specific type of flammable material.
