Claude Monet paintings are those that began what we know as impressionistic art. This type of art is derived through very miniscule brush strokes that are barely visible.

Everything that is visible to the naked eye is then given a different reflection during the different times of day. These are the things that Monet paintings capture, and it is evident when people gaze upon one of them.

Another practice of impressionists is to place a different color on top of one that is still wet. This is done because it will slightly mix and have edges that appear to be much softer.

Many of these techniques had been used individually long before impressionists came along, but it was the impressionists that used them altogether.

Paints were available to impressionists that came packaged in tubes. This made moving the materials more portable than it was before. Before these prepackaged colors were available, an artist had to make his own by mixing pigments together using linseed oil to achieve the desired hue.

The bladders of animals were used then to store them which made transporting them outdoors and to other locations not really as convenient. These packaged products made it much easier to travel and take advantage of the outdoor landscapes and seascapes, and these were things that the impressionists wanted to capture the most.

Monet paintings are credited with being among the first in the impressionist movement and perhaps the most well-known as well.
