Put Your Money Where Your Health Is

It always cracks me up when people drive two miles to the gym from their homes, then wait to get the perfect parking spot up snug close to the front door, and then rush inside to get onto a treadmill or track that has them walk two miles?

And then they also pay a small fortune every month for the ability to do that.

What gives?

Some people use the gym as a social event venue. That’s fine then. As long as they realize that’s what it is.

I’m more of the belief that eating right and incorporating exercise into your daily routine is the way to go if you want to maintain the best health you can.

For instance, I always opt for the all-natural food and drink product. I want the ones without hormones, chemicals, and preservatives. I want to drink products like Nopalea Juice that are all natural. I want to eat beef that doesn’t contain hormones that could possibly harm my body.

I want to get my exercise, by habitually parking as far away from any store door as I can and preferably walking to my destination as often as I can.

In addition, if I have an extra 30 minutes of 60 minutes to spend exercising, I’m going to do it by engaging in some fun activity, such as ice skating or riding my bike or jumping rope or something that makes me happy.

If I love to swim and don’t have a pool at home then obviously a gym membership would be a small luxury for me to not only indulge in something I love, but get some great exercise.

The problem is most people who go to the gym look at it as a penance. They view it as punishment for overindulging in food or something. That seems to me a poor way to live.

Instead, it seems that other choices made could avoid having to undergo this punishment. Here are some choices that work:

1. Give up soda pop. There is zero benefit in drinking this beverage. Zero.

2. Stop smoking. This is hands down the most important tip I could possibly share and might save your life.

3. Shop the outer rim of the market so you are focusing on dairy, grains, and produce. Limit your protein to lean meats and bulk up on whole grains and fruits and vegetables.

4. Make sure you watch at least 30 minutes every day. Something this simple is known to make the difference between a fatal heart attack striking you or skipping you.

5. Only buy products that are all natural – that means both food and drink, such as all-natural Nopalea Juice.

6. Sleep at least 8 hours a night.

7. Drink enough water every day that your urine runs clear.

8. If you have a daily drink, exchange your beer or other alcohol for a small glass of red wine, which can actually benefit your health instead of harm it.
