Should Carlos Tevez Be Banned From Playing Football?

Carlos Tevez the Argentina striker has once again landed himself in hot water. He infuriated his manager Robert Mancini who is at the helm of British Premiere League football club, Manchester City. He refused to come on as a substitute against Bayern Munich when they were 2-0 down on 27th September 2011.

His manager said after the match in a lot more colorful language than I care to use here, Carlos can clear off home to Argentina. Carlos said there was a misinterpretation and that the language barrier caused confusion. Well I think Carlos can understand body language and he definitely knew what his manager thought about his blatant disobedience.

This is not the first time at Manchester City or with one football club that Carlos has refused to play. He has remonstrated time and time again that he wants to leave Manchester City, although he’s only been there a year and cost a reputed 47 million pounds. He gets 250 000 per week for his compensation, whether he trains or plays a single game.

Now City the richest club in the world have suspended him for 2 weeks. But he still gets full pay. This time he has infuriated the board of directors so much that they have given Mancini carte blanche to do what he wants. He wants to off load him, but if he does that Carlos is free to sign for another club for free and they would have just lost 47 million.

It’s more likely that they’ll sell him for a reduced price of 20 million and as he’s still in contract Carlos will have to be paid by city 250k a week for the remainder of his contract, or else they can buy him out with one lump sum.

So Carlos has all the power. I think this player is toxic. He fell out with Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United after Ferguson chose to not play him when his form dipped. Then he signed to their rivals Manchester City in a contentious buy out. They then paraded a massive billboard around Manchester with a picture of Carlos and the slogan “Welcome to Manchester”.

It looks like that has turned round to bite them where it hurts. Carlos has no loyalty to any club. He’s a money man. On first arriving at City rumors were circulating in the press that Carlos’s wife wanted him to leave Manchester as she didn’t like the weather. A few months later Carlos was in trouble with his manger for refusing to train. He was subsequently dropped by the manager. He put in transfer requests but was denied.

Then Mancini his manger snided at him in the press saying Carlos wants to move but nobody wants him. He was referring to the fact that no club would want to pay out 50 million for a player who has no loyalty and only wants the sign up fee and excessive wages, and will be on the hunt for as soon as he signs. This comment enraged Carlos and his relationship with City and his manager became more strained.

Maybe it’s time for Carlos to concentrate on what he should be doing, playing football. The agents and the footballers have far too much power these days. It would not be worth City’s while sacking Tevez as they would lose too much money. It looks like he may never play for them again as he is such a disturbance to the manager and the team. Anyone that buys him should have an iron clad contract in the club’s favor, and maybe a beach beside the football ground.
